UTICA, NY- The Utica College Pioneers women's lacrosse team looks to start their Empire 8 Conference schedule off strong when they face The Sage Colleges on Wednesday. The game is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
 
Last Time Out: The Pioneers are 1-1 in the last two games played with a win over Morrisville State and a loss to Oswego State last week... On Wednesday, the Pioneers had seven different goal scorers... Both Lauren Wolff (Peabody, MA/Peabody) and Kaitlynn Palmer (Verona, NY/VVS) led the team with five goals, Brooke Miller (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) had four goals, Katie McDowell (Wynantskill, NY/Averill Park), Noelle Capriglione (New Milford, CT/New Milford) and Stephanie Husnay (Canastota, NY/Whitesboro) each had two goals and Natalie Capriglione (New Milford, CT/New Milford) scored one goal... On Saturday, Miller (two), Natalie Capriglione (New Milford, CT/New Milford) Palmer and Husnay added on to their weekly scoring while Brittany Nowak (Eden, NY/Eden) scored two goals in the loss.
 
Leading The Way: Freshman Stephanie Husnay (Canastota, NY/Whitesboro) leads the team with 16 points (nine goals, seven assists)… Senior Brooke Miller (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) is tied for second on the squad with 15 points and she leads the team with 14 goals… Freshman Lauren Wolff (Peabody, MA/Peabody) also has 15 points (nine goals, six assists), while Kaitlynn Palmer (Verona, NY/VVS) is second on the squad with 11 goals, followed by Natalie Capriglione (New Milford, CT/New Milford), who has 10 goals. 
 
Solid in Goal:  Sophomore goalie Hali Vandermeulen (Walden, NY/Valley Central) is 1-1 in the last two games played while Abigail Rogan (Clinton, NY/Clinton) and Amanda Lupo (Auburn, NY/Skaneateles) have also seen some action in goal… Vandermeulen is 3-3 in six starts and she ranks third in the E8 with a .522 save percentage… Rogan currently has one win in her first season as a Pioneer with an 8.38 goals against average.
 
Scouting Sage: Since joining the Empire 8 Conference this season, the Gators are 1-3 and 0-1 in the conference after their recent loss to Houghton... Sage is led by senior attacker Torri Sperl who has 10 points with eight goals and two assists and classmate Martine Iannielllo who has nine points (seven goals, two assists)… In goal, Jenna Cislak is 1-2 in three starts.
 
Looking Ahead: UC will travel to Elmira College to face the Soaring Eagles on Saturday March 31 to continue their Empire 8 Conference schedule. The game will start at 3 p.m.
