Women's Lacrosse Looks to Bounce Back Against Clarkson

UTICA, NY- The Utica College Women's lacrosse team looks to bounce back from a tough loss as it faces Clarkson University on Saturday afternoon at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium. The game is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.

Last Time Out: The Pioneers suffered a tough 18-5 loss in their home opener against Skidmore on Thursday... Utica was able to keep up with Skidmore in the first five minutes to play as the game was tied 1-1, but then Skidmore regained the lead and kept it throughout the rest of the game… The Thoroughbreds also outshot the Pioneers 39-18 and also picked up 16 draw controls over UC's nine.

Miller Adds On: After scoring her 100th career point in the season opener against SUNY Potsdam last Saturday, senior attacker Brooke Miller (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) added on to her career stats as she scored the game's tying goal in the first five minutes against Skidmore... She currently has five goals and one assist this season…  In her career, Miller has 101 points with 81 goals and 20 assists in 48 games played.

Wolff Off to an Impressive Start: Freshman Lauren Wolff (Peabody, MA/Peabody) continues to thrive in her rookie season as she picked up her fifth assist off Miller's goal on Thursday... Split Time in Goal: Sophomore Hali Vandermeulen (Walden, NY/Valley Central) earned her second start of the season and played the first half where she made eight saves and took the loss... Junior transfer Abigail Rogan (Clinton, NY/Clinton) made her first appearance as a Pioneer as she took over for Vandermeulen in the second half and made six saves.

Scouting Clarkson: The Golden Knights come into Saturday's non-conference matchup with a 2-1 record after defeating both SUNY Potsdam and Oswego State and their only loss was against SUNY Cortland in overtime... They have also scored at least 10 goals per game... Clarkson is led by junior attacker Jaid Baytos, who has a team-high 10 points (nine goals and one assist) and 10 draw controls... Behind Baytos, Abby and Taylor Collins both have eight points. In goal, junior Samantha Gladd is 2-1 with a goals-against average of 9.01 and a save percentage of .425.
