Ithaca, NY – The Utica College baseball team was on the road for the third and final game of the Empire 8 Conference series against Ithaca College. UC rallied late in the game, sending it to extra innings where the Bombers exploded for 10 runs in the 10th inning.
Adam Nell (Vernon, NY/VVS) knocked in two RBI's thanks to his two run homer in the eighth inning. Nell finished the game 2-for-5 at the plate with a home run, a double, and two RBI's. In the bottom of the ninth, junior third baseman

Jake Ryan (Kingston, NY/Kingston) in for the game tying run at 5-5.
Mark Spina (Frankfort, NY/Frankfort-Schuyler) started on the mound for the Pioneers in this one, going six full innings allowing just two runs to score. Spina struck out three during his shift before being relieved by
Jake Cavanagh (Plainville, NY/King Phillip Regional).
Brian Dinnen (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas) (0-1) also entered the game to pitch late and was given the losing decision. Utica is now 11-9 overall and 4-5 in E8 play this season after falling to Ithaca 2-1 in the three-game set.
Ithaca's Sam Little and Domenic Boresta combined for five hits and seven RBI's to lead the team. Little connected for two doubles in the win, while Boresta hit a double and a triple. Catcher Chris Dietz also rattled off two doubles at the plate. The Bombers registered five RBI doubles in the top of the 10th to seal the win in extra innings.
Tevor Rumsey entered the game late for Ithaca, not allowing a single hit or run in two innings pitched. Rumsey received the win on the mound to make his record 1-0 on the year. Robby Buffis gave up two earned runs over seven innings of work on the hill and struck out 10 UC batters in the game. The Bombers improve to 14-11 overall and 7-5 within the conference this season.
The Pioneers are scheduled to host their home opener on Tuesday with a doubleheader against Oneonta. Game one of the set is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
