Hoboken, NJ – The Utica College baseball team faced Stevens on Sunday for the third and final game of the weekend series. The Ducks completed the sweep over UC with the 8-0 win in the nine-inning contest.
Stevens had control of the game from the first inning, with an RBI single by Shaye Bartnick to kick things off. The home team would go on to score three runs in the fourth and then add four more to close the game out in the eighth.
Justin Shabman (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Kennedy Catholic) (1-1_ started at pitcher in this one, giving up two earned runs in four innings of work. Shabman was able to strike out four batters in his shift and was given the loss.
Kolbie Glionna (Hagaman, NY/Amsterdam) entered in the fifth and allowed one run to score over his three innings pitched.
Right fielder
Tom Carrigan (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) was 1-for-4 on the day with a double, for Utica's only hit in the loss. The Pioneers are now 12-16 overall and 4-11 in Empire 8 play.
Nathan Zuckerman finished 1-for-3 with two RBI's, while Tommy Baronner was 2-for-5 in the designated hitter slot. The shortstop Matthew Pasko batted 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored for Stevens.
Pitcher Quinn DiPasquale (4-2) threw a complete game shutout for the Ducks, allowing just one hit and tallying 12 strikeouts. Stevens improves to 23-14 overall and 14-3 in conference competition.
UC returns home on Tuesday for the team's last home game of the year. The Pioneers will host Hamilton College for the annual Jackie Robinson Game, beginning at 4:15 p.m.
