UTICA, NY – The Utica College women's lacrosse team will travel to nationally ranked No. 20 Stevens Institute of Technology for an Empire 8 showdown this Saturday.  Game time is scheduled for 11 a.m.
 
Last Time Out: The Pioneers fell short on Tuesday to No. 24 St. John Fisher with a score of 14-5... UC junior Natalie Capriglione (New Milford, CT/New Milford) netted three goals for the second straight game and led the Pioneers with four draw controls... Brooke Miller (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) had one goal and one assist, Noelle Capriglione (New Milford, CT/New Milford) scored her sixth goal of the year, and Stephanie Husnay (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) chipped in with one assist… Hali Vandermeulen (Walden, NY/Valley Central) made 11 saves in the loss.
 
On Attack: UC is currently first in the E8 with 136 goals averaging 13.60 per game... This is just the second time in the last nine years that Utica has had at least seven players with 10 goals or more in a single season… Senior Brooke Miller (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) leads the team with 20 goals and she has scored in all but one game this season...  Junior Natalie Capriglione (New Milford, CT/New Milford) is second on the squad with a career-high 18 goals… Sophomore Kaitlynn Palmer (Verona, NY/VVS) is third on the team with 17 goals and she is one of five Pioneers to have at least 20 points this season.
 
Freshmen Help: UC freshman Stephanie Husnay (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) leads the Pioneers with 28 points (16 goals, 12 assists) on the season… She is in the midst of an eight-game scoring streak and is the only UC player with double-digit goals and assists... Classmate Lauren Wolff (Peabody, MA/Peabody) has started all 10 games recording 11 goals and nine assists... She had a season high five goals in Utica's 21-8 win over Morrisville State on March 21.
 
Between The Pipes: Sophomore Hali Vandermeulen (Walden, NY/Valley Central) leads UC with 74 saves and a .487 save percentage… She has had three games this season at more than 10 saves.
 
Conference Standings:  UC is currently fourth in the Empire 8 with a conference record of 2-1...  UC has six games left on its schedule, including five games against E8 opponents.
 
Scouting Stevens: Stevens, which was ranked No. 20 in the latest IWLCA national poll, holds a record of 7-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play... Last time out Stevens defeated St. John Fisher 11-4 and stretched its win streak to four straight games... Averaging 4.66 points per game, sophomore Kyra Bednarski is leading the way for the Ducks with 26 goals and 16 assists.
 
Next Time Out: The Pioneers will have a week off before hosting Houghton College in an Empire 8 conference game next Saturday… Game time is 1 p.m.
