Utica, NY – The Utica College men's tennis team hosted St. John Fisher on Saturday to finish up this weekend's action. The Cardinals earned the sweep across the board, winning 9-0 in the match. The Pioneers dropped to 0-3 on the season after the loss.
Starting the day off with doubles competition, the duos of
Austyn Diller (Tappan, NY/Tappan Zee)/
Maki Medici (Watervliet, NY/Shaker) and
Christian Carman (Westwood, NJ/Westwood)/
Joshua Palmer (Southington, CT/Wilcox Technical) both fell 8-1 in their matchups.
Freshman
Maki Medici (Watervliet, NY/Shaker) improved from his 6-0 loss in his first singles set, dropping the second set 6-2. In sixth singles, Garrett Bortiantysnki was defeated 6-1, 6-1 in two sets.
The Pioneers are back in action next Saturday, as they travel to face Empire 8 opponent Alfred University. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
