UTICA, NY- Sophomores Jacqueline Aronin (Naugatuck, CT/Naugatuck High School) and Jamie Miller (Boonville, NY/Adirondack) as well as freshman Gabriella Caccamo (Suffern, NY/Suffern) of the Utica College softball team were named to the Empire 8 All-Tournament team, announced Tuesday.
 
Aronin was 4-for-9 in four games over the weekend.  Her best performance came against Alfred in the semifinal when she was 2-for-3 with two doubles and a team-high five RBIs.  She also made a great play in center field to throw a runner out at home, causing a double play and helping the Pioneers hold onto a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the seventh against Stevens. 
 
Miller was instrumental in Utica's 2-1 opening win over Stevens Institute of Technology on Friday.  She was 2-for-4 on the day and hit a clutch single in the fifth inning to bring in the eventual winning run.  She also made the catch and tag at home plate to get the tying run out and then threw the ball to third for a game-ending double play to preserve Utica's 2-1 lead in the bottom of the seventh.
 
Caccamo fanned one and did not allow an earned run in seven full innings of work to pick up the win over Stevens in Utica's opening game of the E8 tournament on Friday.  She had two more appearances totaling five innings throughout the weekend.  Caccamo led UC this season with a 2.90 ERA.
 
The Pioneers fell to top-seeded and nationally ranked No. 6 St. John Fisher College in the Empire 8 Championship on Sunday.  It marked Utica's third appearance in the E8 championship and first since 2013.
