Utica, NY – The Utica College women's soccer team held its home opener on Friday, as it hosted SUNY Potsdam. The visiting Bears got the win on the road, with the final score reading 5-2.
Potsdam took an early lead as Brooke Falsion scored to put her team up 1-0, just 6:38 into the match. As the game progressed the Bears were able to fire 15 shots at UC goalkeeper
Allison Wagner (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua Academy). Wagner finished the first half with 11 saves, as she officially moved up to second place all-time in career saves.
Before the halftime break, the Bears were able to draw a penalty kick opportunity for Rylie Murray. Murray beat the keeper to put SUNY Potsdam up 2-0 heading into the mid-game break.
The Pioneers made some noise early in the second half, as
Abby Reilly (Brookfield, NY/Brookfield) notched her second goal of the season. Reilly was assisted by
Mikayla Blumenstock (Poland, NY/Poland), cutting the lead to 2-1. Potsdam responded later in the period with a second goal from Brooke Falsion, building the lead to 3-1 Moments later

However, the Bears would put the game away late in the second half with two more scores to take a 5-2 lead. Potsdam improves to 6-1 overall on the season while UC drops to 1-3-1.
Mikayla Blumenstock (Poland, NY/Poland) scores her first goal as a Pioneer to go with her one assist.
Abby Reilly (Brookfield, NY/Brookfield) recorded her second score of the season and teammate
Summer Gagnon (Manchester, NH/Manchester) tallied her first assist of the year. Goalkeeper
Allison Wagner (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua Academy) finished with 13 saves, giving her 338 stops for her career. Wagner is now second in program history for career saves.
The Pioneers return to Charles A. Gaetano Stadium on Saturday, as they take on Clarkson University. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
