UTICA, NY – The Utica College volleyball team returns to action Thursday as it heads to Cobleskill, NY to face SUNY Cobleskill in a non-conference matchup. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
 
Last Time Out: The Pioneers (1-9) are coming off a 3-0 win (25-21, 25-20, 25-21) over D'Youville College last Saturday… Senior Nicole Herringshaw (Syracuse, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) led the team with seven kills, followed by sophomore Meaghan Romaguera (Stone Ridge, NY/Rondout) and Megan Rice (Leverett, MA/Amherst Regional) with five kills each… On the defensive end, senior Hannah Voss (St. Louis, MO/Oakville) led the Pioneers with 15 digs and sophomore Morgan Farmer (Saranac Lake, NY/Saranac Lake) had six.
 
Controlling the Offense: Utica currently has three players with more than 30 kills on the season... Herringshaw is leading the Pioneers with 83, followed by Romaguera (43) and Rice (32)… Utica also has three players with more than 30 assists, led by senior Marissa Faroni (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) (67)... Freshmen Jenna Prewasnicak (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) (45) and Casey Sims (Schenectady, NY/Niskayuna) (36) have also chipped in on the offense.
 
Guarding the Net: Nicole Herringshaw (Syracuse, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) leads the team and ranks seventh in the Empire 8 Conference with 22 blocks on the year… She is currently fourth all-time at UC with 267 blocks in her career… Classmate Marissa Faorni has a team-best 87 digs, while Hannah Voss (St. Louis, MO/Oakville) is right behind her with 80 digs in just 18 sets played.  
 
Scouting SUNY Cobleskill: The Fighting Tigers are currently 1-7 (0-2 NEAC) this season… They are coming off a 1-3 loss to Bard College on Tuesday… Cobleskill is led by sophomore Rachel Burke with 41 kills and senior Mackenzie Holbert with 105 assists in the season.
 
Against SUNY Cobleskill: The Pioneers are currently 8-1 against the Fighting Tigers in the last five seasons... The last time UC and Cobleskill met was in 2017… The Pioneers won 3-1 with Herringshaw leading the Pioneers with 12 kills and 11 blocks.
 
Looking Ahead: UC will head to Elmira, NY to face Elmira College (12 p.m.) and The Sage Colleges (2:30 p.m.) in an Empire 8 pod on Saturday... This marks their first Empire 8 conference matches this season.
