CORTLAND, NY- The Utica College field hockey team suffered a 5-2 defeat at the hands of SUNY Cortland in non-conference action Saturday afternoon.
Â
The Red Dragons took a commanding 4-0 lead in the first half and added another tally just after halftime before the Pioneers were finally able to get on the board at 51:55. Senior
Rylee Meelan (Clinton, NY/Clinton) scored on a penalty stroke to extend her scoring streak to five games.Â
Â
Sophomore
Sydney Scaccia (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) added another tally just four minutes later as she put in a rebound for her third of the season. It was too little, too late, however, as Cortland held on for the win.Â
Â
Megan Chamberlain (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) and
Carly Tebolt (Wappingers, NY/Roy C Ketcham) combined for four saves in the loss, while Cortland's Kailynne Reinoehl had nine saves.Â
