Women's Hockey Cruises to Win over Lebanon Valley

Hershey, PA- Six Different players scored at least one goal as the Utica College women's hockey team cruised to a 7-0 win over host Lebanon Valley College in UCHC Conference action Friday evening.  Freshman Georgiana Santullo (Woburn, MA/Boston Shamrocks/Woburn High School) led the Pioneers with two goals on the night.

After a scoreless first period, the Pioneers exploded for four goals in the second stanza and tacked on three more tallies in the final frame to earn the lopsided victory.  Sophomore Lexi Stanisewski (Lawrence, MA/Boston Shamrocks) broke the deadlock at 8:08 of the second as she buried a feed from Rebecca Brown (Steamboat Springs, CO/Norwich University) for her team-leading seventh goal of the season, and her second straight game-winner.  The Pioneers struck again just 16 seconds later as Santullo put in her first of the day, assisted by Kirsten Johnson (Brockville, Ontario/RSL Midget Thunder AA).

Santullo found the back of the net again, this time on the power play at 16:12 of the first when she put in her sixth of the year, assisted by seniors Elizabeth Dohner (Highlands Ranch, CO/Colorado Selects) and Danielle Haasbeek (Grand Forks, ND/Balmoral Hall).  Utica capped off the scoring for the period at 18:50 when Brown put in an unassisted tally for her seventh of the season.

Utica extended the lead halfway through the third period as sophomore Katrina Cornick (Mason City, IA/Rocky Mountain Roughriders) netted an unassisted tally of her own for her second of the year.  The Pioneers closed out the scoring with a pair of goals just 28 seconds apart in the final minutes of the third period as Kyra Borsoi (Brossard, Quebec/Holderness) and Olivia Hirschy (Fort Wayne, IN/Culver Academies) each found the back of the net.  Ricki Haab (Stowe, VT/Stowe) and Noelle Capriglione (New Milford, CT/New Milford) were each credited with an assist on the final goals.

Junior Bria Reilly (Hamden, CT/Brewster Academy) had a quiet night, but was there when called upon as she made six saves for her second straight shutout.  Jill Moffatt meanwhile totaled 55 saves for the Dutchmen.

With the win, Utica improves to 11-3 overall (8-1 UCHC), while Lebanon Valley drops to 2-11 (1-10 UCHC). The teams wrap up the series on Saturday at 2 p.m.
