MARCY, NY- The Utica College volleyball team fell to host SUNY Poly 3-1 in a non-conference matchup between the crosstown rivals Thursday evening.

After falling 25-18 in the first set, the Pioneers responded to take the second set by a score of 25-20.  The Wildcats rebounded to take a 10-2 lead in the third set.  Despite Utica rattling off six straight points, the Pioneers were not able to gain the edge as they fell 25-18 in the third frame.  SUNY Poly closed out the evening with a 25-17 win in set four to earn its second 3-1 win over Utica this season.

Junior
Meaghan Romaguera (Stone Ridge, NY/Rondout) led Utica on both sides of the ball as she finished with a team-high six kills and 15 digs.  Sophomore
Kurstan Martin (Owego, NY/Tioga) also finished with six kills on the evening, while classmate
Caitlyn Curcurito (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) totaled five kills. Â
Briana Toledo (Ardsley, NY/Ardsley) and
Brenna Stanton (Chittenango, NY/Chittenango) each chipped in with eight assists to aid the offense.Â

Freshman
Taylor Crowley (Washington Township, NJ/Washington Township) helped out defensively as she finished with 12 digs, and Stanton added nine of her own to pace the Pioneers.  Freshmen
Eleanor Cepiel (West Sand Lake, NY/Academy of Holy Names) and
Cameron Boehlert (Utica, NY/Whitesboro ) tied for the team-lead with two blocks apiece.

The Pioneers have over a week off before returning to action next Friday at Empire 8 foe, Alfred University.  Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
