Goalkeeper Miksch Named ECAC North Men's Defensive Player of the Month

Danbury, CT - Junior goalkeeper Randy Miksch (Lake Villa, IL/Warren Township) of the Utica College men's soccer team has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) North Defensive Player of the Month for September 2019. The honors were announced on Thursday by the organization's offices in Danbury, Connecticut.

Miksch wins the highly prestigious and exclusive award for the first time in his career. Eligible players encompass a wide range of schools and conferences on the East Coast.

The junior wins the award following a raucous month of September that saw Utica dart out to an impressive 6-1-2 record through the end of the month. He had a save percentage of .824, and a goals allowed average of 1.14.

Miksch is a two-time Empire 8 Conference Defensive Player of the Week. He did not allow a goal from September 8th to September 27th while logging every minute in goal for the Pioneers. He had shutouts in four straight matches and a shutout streak totaling 426:20. He tied a career high with 12 saves in the team's most recent match against Hamilton.

The Pioneers return to action on Saturday as they host Elmira College in an Empire 8 match.
