Volleyball Welcomes Kings, MCLA for Tri-Match

UTICA, NY - The Utica College volleyball team is set to host a tri-match at the Harold T. Clark Athletic Center on Saturday. The Pioneers will face King's College at 1:00 p.m. and Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts at 5:30 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT: It was a battle Wednesday against Sage College as the Pioneers just fell short of victory in the fifth set. After losing the first set 25-13, the Pioneers battled back winning both the second and third set but the Gators rebounded to take the fourth set and kept the momentum rolling into the fifth and final set.  Freshman Eleanor Cepiel (West Sand Lake, NY/Academy of Holy Names) posted a triple-double as she finished with 10 kills, 18 assists, and 11 digs.

THINK PINK: The Pioneers will be wearing pink uniforms in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month… Throughout Saturday's matches, UC will be raffling off an Adirondack Chair with all proceeds going towards the Susan G. Komen Foundation as well as UCVB… Tickets are $5 each, or 6 tickets for $20 and can be purchased in the Clark Gymnasium… The drawing will be held just before the start of Utica's 5:30 p.m. game against MCLA.

LEADING THE WAY: The Pioneers are led by junior Meaghan Romaguera (Stone Ridge, NY/Rondout) who has a team-high 106 kills and 174 digs. Teammates Taylor Crowley (Washington Township, NJ/Washington Township) and Eleanor Cepiel (West Sand Lake, NY/Academy of Holy Names) are behind Romaguera in digs with 160 credited to Crowley and 129 to Cepiel. Sophomore Jenna Prewasnicak (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) leads the team in assists with 169. Alicja Swiechowska (Carmel, NY/Carmel) and Rosemarie Fesko (Goshen, NY/Central) are the only two players with over 20 blocks on the year, with 32 and 26, respectively.

EMPIRE 8 LEADERS: Both freshman's Taylor Crowley (Washington Township, NJ/Washington Township) and Alicja Swiechowska (Carmel, NY/Carmel) are ranked in the Empire 8 Conference. Crowley is ranked fourth with 4.44 digs per game while teammate Alicja Swiechowska (Carmel, NY/Carmel) continues to impress this Pioneers team as she is now ranked seventh in the conference in blocks with 32.

SCOUTING KING'S: The Monarchs are led by Becca Goldberg with 154 kills while teammate Wiatt Hoffmann leads the team in assists with 416. In their matchup history, the Pioneers are 0-3 against the Monarchs.

SCOUTING MCLA: The Trailblazers are led by Kelly Moczulski with 146 kills on the year. Both Houa Xiong and Natasha Stewart lead this team in digs with Houa at 192 and Natasha at 148. This will be the first ever meeting between the two teams.
