DELHI, NY- The Utica College women's basketball team picked up another win as it downed host SUNY Delhi 98-50 in non-conference action Tuesday evening.

With the win, UC improves to 5-1 on the year. This is the best start to a season since 2009, when the Pioneers also opened the year with a 5-1 mark through the first six games.  Utica finished with a 22-7 overall record that year, capturing an Empire 8 Conference title and advancing to the NCAA Tournament.  UC returns to action Monday as it travels to Alfred State.  Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Five different players scored in the double digits for Utica, led by sophomore
Sydney Przygoda (Freehold, NJ/Freehold), who totaled 30 points and 13 rebounds for her third double-double of the season.  30 points is a new career-high for Przygoda.  She has scored at least 19 points in each of the six games so far this year. Â

Senior
Nicolette Conkin (Los Altos, CA/Homestead) finished with 15 points and she also added a team-high seven assists and five steals.  Sophomore
Petrina DeMarco (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) and junior
Brigid Johndrow (Bristol, CT/St. Paul Catholic) each had 14 points on the evening, with Johndrow dishing out six assists, to match her season-high.

The Utica bench outscored the Broncos reserves 21-6.  Junior
Kimberly Soriano (Queens, NY/Monsignor McClancy Memorial) chipped in with 11 points, including three three-pointers, while
Marissa Woods (Westampton, NJ/Rancocas Valley) added eight points of her own. Â

UC's defense was lights out as the Pioneers collected 17 steals on the evening, the second-highest total of the season.  Utica also scored 41 points off of turnovers. Â
