Theze Earns All-ECAC Honors

Utica, NY - Freshman Jhonny Theze (Bronx, NY/Claremont International) of the Utica College men's soccer team has been named to the All-ECAC (Eastern College Athletic Conference) Second Team. The announcement was made Wednesday morning by the conference offices in Danbury, Connecticut.

Theze was one of only three freshmen named to the All-ECAC teams, and he is the first Utica College freshman to earn these honors. He was also named First-Team All-Empire 8 as well on Nov. 13.

The Bronx native tabbed a stellar 2019-20 campaign, leading the Pioneers in every offensive category. Theze posted 19 points on seven goals and five assists in his first collegiate season. He shared the team-high in assists with senior Adnan Bakalovic (Utica, NY/Proctor High School), a Syracuse graduate-transfer who finished with 15 points on five goals and five assists.

Theze's best outing of the season came on Sept. 28 in a road matchup against St. John Fisher, where he was credited with either a goal or assist in every single UC score. The first-year starter found the back of the net in the 16th minute to give his team an early 1-0 lead, and then dished out two assists in the 37th and 49th minute to lead the Pioneers to a 3-1 victory.

UC finished the season with an overall record of 10-6, marking the winningest season since 2013.
