Women's Hockey Downs Wilkes on Senior Day

UTICA, NY- The Utica College women's hockey team wrapped up the regular season with a 3-0 win over visiting Wilkes University Saturday afternoon at the Adirondack Bank Center.

With the win, Utica improves to 16-8-1 on the year.  The Pioneers will head into the UCHC Conference tournament quarterfinals next weekend riding the highs of a two-game winning streak in which it outscored the Colonels 11-0.  UC will find out its quarterfinal opponent Sunday pending the outcome of the William Smith-Nazareth game.

The Pioneers opened the scoring with 1:37 remaining in the first period as freshman Caley Susitti (Hartland, WI/Milwaukee Jr. Admirals) put in a feed from Maddie Paydos (Simsbury, CT/Vermont Academy) for her fourth of the year.  Sophomore Nicole Johnson (North Easton, MA/Holderness) also assisted on the eventual game-winner.

Utica extended its lead at 7:54 of the second period when Georgiana Santullo (Woburn, MA/Boston Shamrocks/Woburn High School) found the back of the net for her 11th tally of the season.  Senior Elizabeth Dohner (Highlands Ranch, CO/Colorado Selects) and sophomore Lexi Stanisewski (Lawrence, MA/Boston Shamrocks) assisted on Utica's second goal.

The Pioneers capped off the scoring for the day just 1:15 later as senior Noelle Capriglione (New Milford, CT/New Milford) ripped a shot from the top of the right face off circle that beat Wilkes net minder Ally Joly for her first collegiate goal.  Senior classmates Kayla Dion (Colchester, VT/Boston Shamrocks) and Danielle Haasbeek (Grand Forks, ND/Balmoral Hall) assisted on the power play tally.

Junior Bria Reilly (Hamden, CT/Brewster Academy) turned aside all nine shots she faced to pick up her fifth shutout of the season. Joly meanwhile finished with 63 saves for the Colonels.
