Box Score 2 KISSIMMEE, FL- The Utica College softball team split on day four of The Spring Games in Kissimmee, FL Thursday as it fell to Nebraska Wesleyan 7-3 in the first game, but rebounded to knock off Roger Williams University 4-3 in extra innings in game two.

Utica 3, Nebraska Wesleyan 7- Game One Final
The Prairie Wolves jumped out to a two-run lead in the top of the first and looked poised to score again, but sophomore pitcher
Gabriella Caccamo (Suffern, NY/Suffern) threw back-to-back strikeouts to get out of a bases-loaded jam.

Utica responded in the bottom of the first as
Sadie Evans (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) hit a leadoff double and was then brought home by a double from
Nicole Rice (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South). The Pioneers added two more runs thanks to RBIs by
Jacqueline Aronin (Naugatuck, CT/Naugatuck High School) and
Renee DeResh (Wappingers Falls, NY/Roy C. Ketcham) to take a 3-2 lead after one.

The score remained the same until the fourth inning when Nebraska Wesleyan broke the game open with five runs on seven hits. Evans, Rice, Aronin, DeResh,
Kaitlyn Paul (Albany, NY/Guilderland), and
Emily Joss (South Glens Falls, NY/South Glens Falls) each finished with one hit, while Caccamo finished with three strike outs.

Utica 4, Roger Williams 3 (8 innings)- Game Two Final
After two and a half scoreless innings, the Hawks broke the deadlock with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third to take a 2-0 lead. The Pioneers went to work in the fifth inning, plating three runs to pull ahead 3-2.
Mikayla Blumenstock (Poland, NY/Poland) and
Brigid Johndrow (Bristol, CT/St. Paul Catholic) got things going with a double steal that scored Blumenstock. Three batters later, Utica capitalized on an error by the Roger Williams outfield to score
Sara Stransky (Miller Place, NY/Miller Place) and
Emily Joss (South Glens Falls, NY/South Glens Falls).

After the Hawks evened the score in the sixth, a timely two-out single by
Nicole Rice (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South) drove in the eventual game-winner as the Pioneer defense held strong in the bottom of the eighth to solidify the win.

Rice, Blumenstock, Stransky, Joss,
Megan O'Keefe (Albany, NY/Bethlehem Central), and
Jacqueline Aronin (Naugatuck, CT/Naugatuck High School) each had one hit for the Pioneers.Â
Alyssa Samborin (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) fanned four and allowed just two earned runs in eight full innings of work to pick up the win.
