Women's Lacrosse Travels to Sage for Wednesday Afternoon Tilt

UTICA, NY- The Utica College women's lacrosse team returns to action Wednesday as it travels to take on The Sage Colleges in Empire 8 Conference play.  Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
 
Last Time Out: The Pioneers played their eighth game of the season against Stevens on Saturday, beating the Ducks 14-7, to bring Utica's record to 7-1 overall…Seven different players scored in the win... Freshman Jessie Biegel (Ridge, NY/Longwood) led UC with five goals throughout the game, followed by junior Kaitlynn Palmer (Verona, NY/VVS) who scored three goals, and Hailee DuMont (Wilkes-Barre, PA/James M. Coughlin) with two... Freshmen Lexi Scaccia (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) and Addison Green (Marcy, NY/Whitesboro), sophomore Stephanie Husnay (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro), and senior Katlyn Scarpinella (South Setauket, NY/Ward Melville) each netted one goal for the Pioneers.
 
100-Club: Head Coach Kristin St. Hilaire is closing in on the 100-win milestone for her career… St. Hilaire, who is the program's all-time winningest coach, currently has 99 wins under her belt, all coming at UC… She needs just one more to reach 100 wins in her career... Last year, St. Hilaire guided the Pioneers to their first Empire 8 Tournament appearance since 2006, and this year, she has led Utica to its best start in program history. 
 
Leading the Way: Sophomore Lauren Wolff (Peabody, MA/Peabody) and senior Katlyn Scarpinella (South Setauket, NY/Ward Melville) are tied for the team lead with 25 points each… Wolff has eight goals and a team-best 17 assists to her credit… She is tied for first in the E8 with 2.13 assists per game… Scarpinella meanwhile has 13 goals and 12 assists… She also leads UC with 15 caused turnovers… Scarpinella is closing in on the 100-point milestone… She currently has 65 goals and 33 assists for 98 points in 42 career games played. 
 
Points for Palmer: Junior Kaitlynn Palmer (Verona, NY/VVS) leads the Pioneers with 19 goals on the season… She ranks third on the team in points (22), draw controls (15), and caused turnovers (11)… She currently has a 14-game scoring streak dating back to April 14 last season. 
 
Super Scaccia: Freshman Lexi Scaccia (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) continues to lead the E8 with 6.38 draw controls per game… Scaccia currently has 51 draw controls on the season and she needs just seven more to move into sixth place in Utica's single-season record book… She ranks fourth on the team with 20 points and her 17 goals this season are second only to Palmer… Scaccia leads UC with 25 ground balls and she is tied for the team-lead with two game winning goals. 
 
Hail Hali: On Monday, junior Hali Vandermeulen (Walden, NY/Valley Central) was named the Empire 8 Goalie of the Week for the fourth time this season and the seventh time in her career… Vandermeulen leads the conference with a .579 save percentage… She is third in the E8 with a 7.68 goals against average and 9.63 saves per game. 
 
Scouting Sage College: Sage has a 2-3 overall record, and it is coming off a 19-8 win against Alfred on Saturday…. Junior Anna Risler leads the team with 19 goals this season, while classmate Brittany Gage has scored 11 goals so far for the Gators.
 
Against Sage College: Utica is 3-0 all-time against Sage… Last year, UC came away with a 21-8 win against the Gators... Stephanie Husnay (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) scored five goals during the game, while Hailee DuMont (Wilkes-Barre, PA/James M. Coughlin), Katie McDowell (Wynantskill, NY/Averill Park), Natalie Capriglione (New Milford, CT/New Milford), and Kaitlynn Palmer (Verona, NY/VVS) each netted two goals.
 
Looking Ahead: The Pioneers return home on Saturday to face Empire 8 foe, Nazareth College... Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
