UTICA, NY- The Utica College men's lacrosse team fell to visiting St. John Fisher College 21-6 in Empire 8 Conference action Wednesday afternoon at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium.

With the loss, Utica drops to 5-8 on the year (1-4 E8), while the Cardinals improve to 11-1 (4-0 E8). UC will look to rebound next Wednesday as it hosts Hartwick College. Game time is 4 p.m.

The Cardinals jumped out to a quick 4-1 lead just over seven minutes into the game. Utica cut the deficit to two with 2:27 remaining in the first quarter as
John Avery (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford-Mendon) scored his 24
th of the year, but Fisher responded just 12 seconds later to swing the momentum back in favor of the visitors.Â

St. John Fisher went on to take a 12-3 lead into halftime and then tacked on nine more scores over the final 30 minutes to remain unbeaten in conference play.Â

Avery led the Pioneers with two goals, while
Dale Wagner (Elbridge, NY/Jordan Elbridge) also totaled two points on one goal and one assist.Â
Jared Smaldon (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy),
John Hanlon (Coconut Creek, FL/St. John Paul Academy), and
Dylan Dunham (Elbridge, NY/Jordan Elbridge) also found the back fo the net for the Pioneers.Â

Harrison Bower (Northport, NY/Kings Park) and
Dylan Allen (Rome, NY/Holland Patent) combined for 12 saves in net, while Darin Eakins and Brandon Moore totaled nine saves for Fisher.Â
