Men's Tennis Welcomes Medaille for Final Home Match

Utica, NY – The Utica College men's tennis team is at home on Wednesday for a non-conference meeting with Medaille College. The match is set to begin at 4 p.m.
 
Last Time Out: UC hosted Stevens and Alfred over the past weekend, losing both matches in Empire 8 play. The Saxons won on Friday, 7-2, before the Ducks swept Utica 9-0 the following day. The team is now 3-8 overall and 1-5 within the conference.
 
Senior Class: With the season coming to a close, and the match with Medaille being the final home competition of the year it is time to say goodbye to the seniors. Paul Litvak (Brooklyn, NY/Abraham Lincoln) and Garrett Bortiatynski (Rome, NY/Holland Patent) are the seniors who will be playing in their final home tennis match on Wednesday. Congratulations for all they have accomplished and thank you for your time and dedication to Utica College.
 
Last Stop at Home: Wednesday's tennis match against the Mavericks from Medaille College will mark the final home competition of the season for the Pioneers. The team will wrap up the remainder of the season on the road.
 
Single Warriors: Matt Zbytniewski (Newport, NY/West Canada Valley) and Austin McGrain (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford) both are holding the highest total of wins in single play on the roster this season. Zbytniewski is 4-6 overall in singles, while McGrain stands at 4-5 in lone competition. Teammate Gianluca Baggetta (Maple, Ontario/North York (OJHL)) is currently an undefeated 2-0 this season in singles matchups.
 
Double's Action: The top duo for doubles play this season for UC has been the combination of Paul Litvak (Brooklyn, NY/Abraham Lincoln) and Ethan Trembley (Schenectady, NY/La Salle Institute). As the only two members of the team to have four wins in doubles, as a pair the two hold a record of 4-5 in doubles competition.
 
Scouting Medaille: The Mavericks are currently 6-3 overall on the season and are 4-2 inside of AMCC play. The team has yet to lose a match on the road and most recently defeated Theil College, 8-1 away from home. Medaille has lost two of its last three coming into Wednesday's matchup.
 
Looking Ahead: The Pioneers have just remaining match on the schedule, as they will close the year out on the road against Houghton College. This season-ending Empire 8 battle will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
