Men's Tennis Triumphs over Delhi at Home

Box Score Utica, NY – The Utica College men's tennis team defeated SUNY Delhi, 7-2, on Wednesday to earn its first win of the 2019 season. The Pioneers swept doubles play and only surrendered match points in two singles competitions, improving to 1-3 overall.
 
LJ Nuzzo (Peru, NY/Peru Central) and freshman Austin McGrain (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford) teamed up in the first doubles slot, coming away with an 8-2 win.

Paul Litvak (Brooklyn, NY/Abraham Lincoln) joined forces with Ethan Trembley (Schenectady, NY/La Salle Institute) for an 8-0 win in the second round of doubles.

In the third doubles match it was Garrett Bortiatynski (Rome, NY/Holland Patent) and Anthony Coppola (Utica, NY/Whitesboro) working together for an 8-3 victory.
 
Matt Zbytniewski (Newport, NY/West Canada Valley), Trembley, Litvak, and McGrain all secured wins in singles play on the day. Most took their matchups two sets to none, but Trembley had to fight in the tiebreaking third set for the win.
 
The Pioneers are back home again for the weekend, as they will host Hamilton College on Friday and Elmira on Saturday.
