Utica, NY - The Utica College women's volleyball team is set for a busy weekend, as it hosts Cazenovia College at 11 a.m. and Buffalo State at 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Last time out: The Pioneers dropped their last match to local rival Hamilton College. Junior
Meaghan Romaguera (Stone Ridge, NY/Rondout) led the team both offensively and defensively, totaling a team high in both kills (7) and a match-high in digs (13). Sophomore
Jenna Prewasnicak (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) also had a great showing as well, recording a team-high 11 assists on the evening.
Comeback Win: UC notched its first win of the season against Cazenovia College two weeks ago. This was a match to remember, as the Pioneers clawed all the way back from a 2-0 deficit on the road. Sophomore
Kurstan Martin (Owego, NY/Tioga) led the way offensively for Utica, totaling a team-high 13 kills. Junior
Meaghan Romaguera (Stone Ridge, NY/Rondout) and sophomore
Rosemarie Fesko (Goshen, NY/Central) added 11 more kills in the effort. Freshman
Cameron Boehlert (Utica, NY/Whitesboro ) was also a huge part of this win, as she added a match-high 37 digs. This match was a nailbiter from the beginning, with the largest margin of victory coming in the fifth and final set when the Pioneers took it by a score of 15-8.
Versatility: Junior
Meaghan Romaguera (Stone Ridge, NY/Rondout) has packed her stat line so far this year, as she is top-three on the team in kills (1st - 61), digs (2nd - 91) and aces (3rd - five). Romaguera notched one of her best matches to date against SUNY Poly last Monday, leading the way with 20 kills and finishing right behind freshman
Taylor Crowley (Washington Township, NJ/Washington Township) in digs with 14.
Underclassmen Dominance: The freshman and sophomore classes of this year's team have been very impressive thus far, both offensively and defensively. Four of the top five dig leaders in 2019 are freshmen, with
Cameron Boehlert (Utica, NY/Whitesboro ) leading the way with a team-best 98. Freshmen
Eleanor Cepiel (West Sand Lake, NY/Academy of Holy Names) (60),
Taylor Crowley (Washington Township, NJ/Washington Township) (67) and sophomore
Jenna Prewasnicak (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) (44) round out the top five in this category as well. The same holds true offensively, with sophomores

Kurstan Martin (Owego, NY/Tioga) (5th - 36) and Cepiel (3rd - 44) all finishing in the top five in kills. Prewasniack also leads the team in assists with 101 while sophomore
Casey Sims (Schenectady, NY/Niskayuna) is right behind her with 83.
Scouting Cazenovia: The Cougars have notched one victory this year over Hilbert College and currently sit at 1-8. The last time these two teams matched up, Utica took the match by a score of 3-2 after being down 2-0. Utica holds the advantage in this matchup if history is any indication, as the Pioneers have an 18-4 all-time record against Cazneovia.
Scouting Buffalo State: The Bengals are currently 3-8 heading into the weekend, with one of their wins coming over Utica earlier in the season. This team is a relatively experienced one, as it rosters five seniors.
