Utica, NY - The Utica College women's volleyball team is scheduled to host SUNY Cobleskill this Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Clark Athletic Center. This is game five of a seven game home stand for the Pioneers that will culminate later this week.

Last time out: The Pioneers dropped their last game against Buffalo State, but notched their second win of the season over Cazenovia College earlier in the day in a 3-0 decision. The early parts of this match were on the close, with Cazenovia posting 18 points in the first set and 19 in the second. The largest margin of victory for UC came in the third, topping the Cougars by a score of 25-11.

Junior Meaghan Romaguera (Stone Ridge, NY/Rondout) once again had a fantastic match, posting a team-high nine kills while adding 15 digs and two service aces. Freshman Taylor Crowley (Washington Township, NJ/Washington Township) continued her defensive success, posting a team-high 20 digs. Sophomore Kurstan Martin (Owego, NY/Tioga) finished right behind Crowley with 16 digs.

Dominating History: The history of this matchup has been a one-sided affair, with the Pioneers winning 11 of the 12 matches since these teams first started playing each other in 2012. The sole Cobleskill win came in 2013, and Utica is riding an eight-game winning streak against the Tigers heading into this matchup.

Versatility: Romaguera has packed her stat line so far this year, as she leads the team in kills (76) and digs (110).

Underclassmen Dominance: The freshman and sophomore classes of this year's team have been very impressive thus far, both offensively and defensively. Four of the top five dig leaders in 2019 are freshmen, with Taylor Crowley (Washington Township, NJ/Washington Township) totaling 106 thus far which is good for second-most on the team. Freshmen Cameron Boehlert (Utica, NY/Whitesboro ) (98) and Eleanor Cepiel (West Sand Lake, NY/Academy of Holy Names) (86), along with sophomore Jenna Prewasnicak (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) (57), round out the top five in this category as well.

The same holds true offensively, with sophomores Rosemarie Fesko (Goshen, NY/Central) (2nd - 57),  Alicja Swiechowska (Carmel, NY/Carmel) (4th - 49), Kurstan Martin (Owego, NY/Tioga) (5th - 39) and Cepiel (3rd - 51) all finishing in the top five of this category. Prewasnicak also leads the team in assists with 120 while sophomore Casey Sims (Schenectady, NY/Niskayuna) is right behind her with 83.

Scouting Cobleskill: The Tigers have put together a 5-5 season thus far, and they have lost three of their last four matches heading into this one. In 2018, Cobleskill finished the season with a 7-16 overall record and graduated only one senior; They roster a wealth of experience this year with five seniors on the team.

Up Next: The Pioneers will finish their seven-game home stand with matchups against St. John Fisher on Friday at 6 p.m. and Nazareth College on Saturday at 2 p.m.
