Women's Hockey Swept by #5 Adrian

ADRIAN, MI- The Utica College women's hockey team dropped its second game of the weekend to nationally-ranked No. 5 Adrian College, this time by the score of 7-2 Sunday afternoon in non-conference action.

With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 11-2-2 on the year.  The Pioneers meanwhile fall to 3-9 overall.  Four of the Pioneers' losses have come to teams currently ranked in the top-10 nationally. Utica will look to rebound next weekend as it travels to UCHC foes Lebanon Valley and Chatham.

Special teams proved to be the difference as Adrian scored four powerplay goals on eight chances.  Utica meanwhile was 1-for-6 with the man-advantage.,

For the second day in a row, the Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead with a goal in the first five minutes of action, this time coming at 4:55 off the stick of Brianna Buchanan.

Adrian added a pair of goals in the first half of the second stanza, but Utica was able to get one back at 12:37 of the second when sophomore Caley Susitti (Hartland, WI/Milwaukee Jr. Admirals) netted her second of the year, off an assist from junior Lexi Stanisewski (Lawrence, MA/Boston Shamrocks).

The Bulldogs regained the three-goal lead with just 25 seconds remaining in the second as Sydney Daversa netted her second of the year.  Adrian added a pair of powerplay goals in the first 4:09 of the third period to take a commanding 6-2 lead.

Freshman Morgan Leib (Farmington Hills, MI/Little Caesars) got one back at 6:11 with her third of the season, Maddie Paydos (Simsbury, CT/Vermont Academy) and Lindsey Winter (Minneapolis, MN/Armstrong Cooper) were credited with assists on the play.  It was too little, too late., however as the Bulldogs capped off the scoring with just one second remaining to secure the victory.
