ELMIRA, NY- The No. 4 seed Utica College women's hockey team fell to nationally ranked No. 5 and top-seeded Elmira College 5-1 in the quarterfinal of the UCHC Conference Tournament Saturday.

The Pioneers wrap up the season with a record of 9-16-1 (9-6-1 UCHC). Utica made its eighth straight postseason appearance and 18
th trip to the playoffs in the program's 19-year history.Â

Elmira took a 3-0 lead in the first period off goals by Emma Crocker, Mary McCafferty, and Morgan Mordini.Â

Elmira extended its lead at 12:14 of the second period when Kelly Matthews netted her third of the year. Amanda Zenstein and Ariella Haas picked up assists on the power play tally.

Just 1:25 later, Utica finally got on the board as freshman
Carolyn Whitney (Raleigh, NC/Milbrook School) put in a feed from sophomore
Georgiana Santullo (Woburn, MA/Boston Shamrocks/Woburn High School) for her ninth of the season.

Crocker added a second tally 1:05 into the third period to seal the victory.

Senior Bria Relly finished with 36 saves, while Elmira's Elizabeth Hanson totaled 17 saves in the win.Â
