Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Third Period Push Not Enough As Women's Hockey Falls to Oswego

UTICA, NY- The Utica College women's hockey team fell to visiting Oswego State 2-1 in non-conference action Saturday afternoon.

Utica looks to bounce back next weekend with a pair of UCHC Conference games.  Utica will host Kings College on Friday (3:30 p.m.) before taking on Wilkes University on Saturday (2 p.m.)

After 20 minutes of scoreless action, Oswego broke the deadlock at 4:13 of the second when Philomena Teggart fired a shot that went off the post and in for her eighth of the year.  Kate Randazzo and Megan Teachout assisted on the powerplay tally.

Oswego extended the lead at 12:32 of the second as Avery Webster found the back of the net for her third of the year, assisted by Sara Cruise and Morgan Shines.

The Pioneers put together their best effort of the day in the third period and were finally rewarded at 11:29 when Caley Susitti (Hartland, WI/Milwaukee Jr. Admirals) put in a rebound for her fifth of the year.  Senior Olivia Hirschy (Fort Wayne, IN/Culver Academies) skated down the right-hand side and fired a low shot on net that Oswego goalie Rachael Farmer saved, but the rebounded popped right out to Susitti who buried it in the back of the net. Junior Lexi Stanisewski (Lawrence, MA/Boston Shamrocks) was also credited with an assist on the play.

Sophomore Savannah Gutierrez (Huntington Beach, CA/Anaheim Lady Ducks) made 25 saves in net for Utica, while Farmer finished with 19 for the Lakers.
