Women's Lax Travels to Morrisville on Wednesday

UTICA, NY- The Utica College women's lacrosse team returns to action Wednesday as it travels to nearby Morrisville State for a non-conference match up.  Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
 
LAST TIME OUT:  The Pioneers remain undefeated as they cruised to a 16-8 win over Wellesley College on Saturday... Sophomore Lexi Scaccia (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) had a career-high seven goals, including two unassisted tallies that came just 15 seconds apart... Senior captain Katlyn Scarpinella (South Setauket, NY/Ward Melville) had a season-best four goals while juniors Lauren Wolff (Peabody, MA/Peabody) and Stephanie Husnay (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) each added two… Freshman Samantha DeCondo (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) netted her first collegiate goal in her first game of the year.
 
SCACCIA'S ON FIRE: Sophomore Lexi Scaccia (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) has been red hot to open the season… She leads the Pioneers with 22 points including a team-best 18 goals through three games… Scaccia's 6.0 goals per game rank first in the Empire 8 and she is second in the conference with 7.33 points per game… Scaccia needs just 7 more goals to match her scoring output from last season… For her efforts, she has been named the Conference's Player of the Week in back-to-back weeks.
 
WELCOME TO THE CLUB: With three points on Saturday, junior Stephanie Husnay (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) joined senior Katlyn Scarpinella (South Setauket, NY/Ward Melville) as the only active players who have totaled 100 career points in a Pioneer uniform… Husnay, who was the 2018 Empire 8 Rookie of the Year, has netted 56 goals and added 44 assists… She is currently second on the squad in both goals (nine) and points (12)… Senior Kaitlynn Palmer (Verona, NY/VVS), who transferred to Utica as a sophomore, currently has 90 points in her career at Utica and needs just 10 more to reach the 100-point mark at UC.
 
BALANCED ATTACK: Utica has 10 different players who have scored at least one goal so far… Seniors Katlyn Scarpinella (South Setauket, NY/Ward Melville) and Kaitlynn Palmer (Verona, NY/VVS) have six and five goals, respectively, while junior Lauren Wolff (Peabody, MA/Peabody) has netted four to go along with her four assists… Reva Mussi (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool), Addison Green (Marcy, NY/Whitesboro), Kristin Krieg (Schenectady, NY/Guilderland), Katherine Migliori (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy), and Samantha DeCondo (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) have also scored for UC.

SCOUTING MORRISVILLE: The Mustangs are 2-1 to start the season and they are coming off an 8-6 win over Potsdam on Friday… Sophomore Grace Hanehan leads the team with 10 points, all of which were goals, while freshman Gina Mohammed has four goals and five assists to her credit. 
 
AGAINST THE MUSTANGS: Utica is 5-0 against Morrisville in the last five years… Last year, the Pioneers came away with a 14-3 victory over the Mustangs… Katlyn Scarpinella (South Setauket, NY/Ward Melville) led Utica with two goals and three assists, while Lauren Wolff (Peabody, MA/Peabody) had two goals and two assists… Hailee DuMont (Wilkes-Barre, PA/James M. Coughlin) and Stephanie Husnay (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) also chipped in with two goals each… Hali Vandermeulen (Walden, NY/Valley Central) and Claire Frier (Lafayette, NY/Lafayette) combined for 12 saves in the win.
 
LOOKING AHEAD: The Pioneers remain on the road on Saturday as they travel to Oswego State… Game time is scheduled for 12 p.m.
