CORTLAND, NY - The Utica College football team had a tough afternoon at the hands of a nationally-ranked opponent on Saturday. #17 SUNY Cortland led wire-to-wire as they topped Utica by a 45-0 score in an Empire 8 Football game at the SUNY Cortland Stadium Complex.
Utica is now 4-3, and 1-2 in the Empire 8 conference. SUNY Cortland remains undefeated at 7-0.
UC was out-gained 509-82 in total offense today.
James Salles (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon) led the Utica offense with 52 net rushing yards. Nate Palmer (Verona, NY/Vernon Verona Sherrill) had four catches for 18 yards.
The Utica defense was paced by Kwasi Addo (Menands, NY/Shaker) and Dan Amady (Suffern, NY/Suffern), who had nine tackles apiece. Devin Bryant (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) added six tackles and an interception in the defensive backfield.
Quarterback Brees Segala threw four touchdown passes for Cortland.
UC returns home for the 2021 edition of the New York State Tool Believe Bowl on Saturday, October 30th against Morrisville State. Kickoff is set for noon at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium.
