SARATOGA, NY - The Utica College basketball team played its last of five straight road games to begin the season on Tuesday night and handed Skidmore College its first loss of the season after taking down the Thoroughbreads, 88-72.

The Pioneers led throughout the entirety of the game and did so with the help of five early points from Thomas Morreale (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) and four out of Chris Green (White Plains, NY/Alexander Hamilton) to jump out to a 9-3 advantage. While Skidmore hit a few buckets to close the gap to 11-10, Utica caught fire and went on a 29-9 run that lasted just over nine minutes to crawl out to a 40-19 lead. UC shot 51.4 percent from the field in the first half while going 7-for-10 from three-point territory to enter the half ahead 47-31.
