Field Hockey Lands 7 on All-Conference Teams

Utica, NY – The Utica College field hockey team had seven players chosen to be members of the 2021 Empire 8 All-Conference teams. These selections were made public on Monday by the Empire 8.

First team had four Pioneers selected which was the most of any team. Graduate student Sabrina Whitehouse (Greenwich, NY/Greenwich) concludes her career with her fifth placement on an all-conference team with Sydney Scaccia (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) grabbing her third. Seniors Jeslyn Files (Weedsport, NY/Weedsport) and Chloe Williams (Holland Patent, NY/Holland Patent) also join the ranks of first team. Senior Madeline Krecidlo (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) and freshman Mackenzie Mix (Camden, NY/Camden) were named to the third team. Senior Kennedy Guy (Glens Falls, NY/Glens Falls) was Utica's representative on the Sportswoman of the Year Team.

Whitehouse is making her fifth appearance on an All-Conference team and her second straight first team nod.  Whitehouse finishes her season as the E8's leading goal scorer with 20 goals scored, despite missing three games midseason.  She was also first in the conference with 2.81 points per game, and her four game-winners this season were tied for first.  She concludes her career ranked fourth in program history with 106 points, fifth in career assists (24), and sixth in goals (41).

Scaccia finds her way back to the all-conference teams in spectacular fashion with her first nod on first team. She was tied for the conference lead with 12 assists and she also ranked third in points (36), and fourth in goals (12).  She set new career highs for goals, assists, and points in a season.

Files was named All-Conference for the third time in her career, and she is making her first appearance on the first team.  She finished the year tied for the E8 lead with 12 assists and also chipped in with three goals.

Leading the way defensively for the Pioneers was Williams. Receiving her first all-conference selection, Williams finished third in defensive saves (six) while also finding the back of the net twice.

Krecidlo found herself on the third team in her second appearance on all-conference teams. She finished the season with the third most goals scored in the conference with 13 including a four-goal outburst against Nazareth.

Mix gets an all-conference bid in her first season with the Pioneers. Mix had an impressive rookie season where she found the back of the net three times while dishing out ten helpers to rank fourth in the E8 in assists.  She also had an eight-game scoring streak at one point.

Guy was chosen as the team's representative on the conference's Sportswoman of the Year team for exemplifying the Empire 8 values of "Competing with Honor and Integrity.  The senior finished with five defensive saves this year and even netted her first career goal on senior day.  Guy played in all 16 games this year while starting 14 and was relied upon heavily to lead the Utica defense.

The Pioneers wrapped up their season with an overall record of 10-9 (6-2 E8).  Utica fell to St. John Fisher in the conference championship game and narrowly missed out on an NCAA Tournament berth.
