READING, PA- The Utica College women's hockey team remained unbeaten in UCHC play as it downed Alvernia University 8-2 In conference action Friday evening. Six different players scored in the win.
Alvernia scored a powerplay tally just 4:42 into the game to take a 1-0 lead into the locker room after 20 minutes. The Pioneers broke the game open with a six-goal outburst in the second period.
Maggie Rylott (Cobourg, Ontario/West Northumberland) led the way with two goals and one assist, while
Carolyn Whitney (Raleigh, NC/Milbrook School) and
Carly Stefanini (Framingham, MA/Brooks School) had one goal and two assists apiece.
Erica Sloan (Potsdam, NY/St. Lawrence Steel) continued here hot start to the year as she netted two goals and
Hailey Modlin (Phoenix, AZ/Boston Shamrocks) and
Georgiana Santullo (Woburn, MA/Boston Shamrocks/Woburn High School) each had one goal.
Angela Hawthorne (Santa Clara, CA/Meijer) and
Lauryn Brown (Eden, NY/Syracuse Valley Eagles) combined for 12 saves in the win.
The Pioneers (7-2, 7-0 UCHC) and the Golden Wolves (3-5-1, 2-2-1 UCHC) wrap up the series Saturday at 2 p.m.
