Women's Hockey Earns Sweep Over Wilkes

UTICA, NY- The Utica College women's hockey team picked up its second sweep of the season as it downed Wilkes University 5-2 in UCHC play Saturday evening.

Utica's special teams were clicking as the pioneers netted two power play goals and added a shorthanded tally.

Sophomore Maggie Rylott (Cobourg, Ontario/West Northumberland) had another strong outing as she netted Utica's shorthanded goal and also dished out two assists to finish with nine points on the weekend (three goals, six assists).

Erica Sloan (Potsdam, NY/St. Lawrence Steel) tabbed another multi-point game as she finished with one goal and two assists and Georgiana Santullo (Woburn, MA/Boston Shamrocks/Woburn High School) had a goal and an assist to her credit as well.

Sophomore Morgan Leib (Farmington Hills, MI/Little Caesars) netted the eventual game-winner with 5:01 remaining in the second period to give Utica a 3-1 lead at the time.  Senior Rebecca Brown (Steamboat Springs, CO/Norwich University) tallied one of her two assists on Leib's first of the year.

Utica got an insurance tally just over the halfway mark of the third period when freshman Hailey Modlin (Phoenix, AZ/Boston Shamrocks) put in a loose puck in front for her first collegiate goal.  Brown and Ava Suda (Cheektowaga, NY/Buffalo Bisons) picked up assists on Modlin's tally.

Freshman Angela Hawthorne (Santa Clara, CA/Meijer) made 10 saves in the win, while Ally Joly had 27 saves for Wilkes.
