UTICA, NY - The Utica College women's lacrosse team will host a pair of games this weekend. The Pioneers will play SUNY Canton in a non-conference game on Friday, April 2nd, before matching up with Alfred University on Saturday, April 3. Friday's game will be played at 2 p.m., while Saturday's game begins at 1 p.m. at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium.

Last Time Out: Utica faced their first conference loss of the season last Saturday, against nationally ranked No. 9 St. John Fisher College. Fisher started off strong by scoring seven of the first eight goals of the day, to lead 9-2 by halftime. Fisher remained strong, outscoring the Pioneers 10-4 in the second half to bring the final score to 19-6. Lexi Scaccia (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) led Utica with two goals and two assists. Samantha DeCondo (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) and Stephanie Husnay (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) each chipped in two goals for Utica, and Lauren Wolff (Peabody, MA/Peabody) had one assist. Claire Frier (Lafayette, NY/Lafayette) made nine saves between the pipes.
Scaccia Scores: Junior attacker Lexi Scaccia (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) led Utica on Saturday with two goals and two assists, which brings her goal-scoring streak to 10 games. Scaccia leads the squad with 14 goals and 10 assists for 24 points. She has picked up seven ground balls, caused nine turnovers, and has won a team-best 23 draw controls. Scaccia has moved up in the ranks lately among her peers. She is 2nd in the conference for assists per game(1.83), 4th for points per game(4.17), 4th for draw controls per game(3.83), and 6th for goals per game(2.33). Scaccia will hit her 100th career point with her fourth point of the weekend, as she currently stands at 96.
Husnay's Halfway to 100: Senior attacker Stephanie Husnay (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) marked her 50th career assist in last Wednesday's 20-2 win against Russell Sage College. She also chipped in two goals in Saturday's game against St. John Fisher, to extend her goal-scoring streak to 10 games. She keeps her position at 2nd on the team board with 11 goals and four assists for 15 points. Husnay is 10th in the conference for goals per game(1.83).
DeCondo Does It Again: Sophomore attacker Samantha DeCondo (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) keeps the goals coming for the third game in a row, as she scored twice in Saturday's game. She is currently third in the team for points, with 10 goals and two assists for 12 points. DeCondo has picked up seven ground balls, caused six turnovers, and won 10 draw controls.
Watch Out For The Wolff: Senior attacker Lauren Wolff (Peabody, MA/Peabody) is just two points away from her 100th career point after recording an assist in Saturday's game. She currently has six goals and five assists for 11 points this season.
Scouting Alfred: Utica hopes to keep the momentum going with their series with Alfred, as the Pioneers have won the last ten meetings. Alfred is currently 5th in the conference, where Utica is 3rd. The Saxons are 1-2, and 0-1 in E8 play with their lone win coming against Wells College. Goalkeeper Alyssa Piechota just tied the school single game saves mark with 24 against Sage, and also secured the school single game record for ground balls in the same contest.
Scouting SUNY Canton: The Roos are 0-2. Their losses have come to Clarkson by a 21-1 score, and to Potsdam by an 11-10 score. EllaRose Lemay leads the squad with four goals.
