Women's Lacrosse Set For Elmira This Weekend

UTICA, NY - The Utica College women's lacrosse team hits the road to Elmira College, for their last game of the regular season. The non-conference game is set for Saturday, April 24, at 1 p.m.

Last Time Out: The Pioneers cruised to a big win on Tuesday as they netted 11 goals per half to cruise to a 22-2 win. The win secured their spot as the No. 3 seed in the conference heading into the E8 tournament next week. Eight players found the back of the net - Samantha DeCondo (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) (seven goals), Lexi Scaccia (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) (three goals), Katie Crofoot (Montgomery, NY/Valley Central) (three goals), Alyssa Drell (Mastic, NY/William Floyd) (three goals), Brittany Nowak (Eden, NY/Eden) (two goals), Lauren Wolff (Peabody, MA/Peabody) (two goals), Lila Allison (Loudonville, NY/Shaker), and Devin Ryan (Orchard Park, NY/Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart). Four players pitched in assists on the night - Stephanie Husnay (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) (four), Wolff (three), Scaccia, and Tracy Moreno (Cedar Grove, NJ/Cedar Grove). Claire Frier (Lafayette, NY/Lafayette), Savanna Thomas (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro), and Shaylynn Palmer (Kirkville, NY/East Syracuse Minoa) all put in work between the goal posts, with Frier earning the win after stopping four shots in just over 45 minutes of work. 

DeCondo Dominates: Sophomore attacker Samantha DeCondo (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) led the team with a career-high seven goals against Keuka. She has now had nine straight multi-goal games, and has scored 20 goals in the last five games. DeCondo is second on the team with 32 goals and six assists, for 38 points. She has picked up 20 ground balls, caused 10 turnovers, and won 10 draw controls. DeCondo is sixth in the conference for goals per game(2.67) and tenth for shots per game(5.00). 

Scaccia's Got Moves: Junior attacker Lexi Scaccia (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) netted a hat trick on Tuesday night to stretch out her goal-scoring streak to 16 games, dating back to the start of the 2020 season. She also pitched in an assist for 4 points on the night. Scaccia continues to lead the team with 33 goals and 17 assists for an even 50 points going into the final game of the regular season. She has also picked up 22 ground balls, caused 20 turnovers, and won 44 draw controls. This gives her 167 draw controls won and puts her within just two of third on the college's All-Time list, a spot held by Megan Kane. Scaccia has also moved up to taking sole possession of third place in the college's all-time assists per game list(1.24), and up to fifth place in the all-time goals per game list (2.45). She is also fourth in the conference for points per game(4.17), fifth for goals per game(2.75), sixth for shots per game(6.17), and seventh for assists per game(1.42). 

Wolff Helps Lead The Pack: Senior attacker Lauren Wolff (Peabody, MA/Peabody) finished with two goals and three assists for five points against Keuka. She scored both of her unassisted goals early in the first half, one on the player-up. She also pitched in three assists throughout the night to bring her to 58 career assists and into sole possession of third place on the college's all-time list as she passed Tammy Kohanski '11. Wolff currently has 17 goals and 12 assists for 29 points this season. 

Husnay Creates The Play: Senior attacker Stephanie Husnay (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) was a key playmaker on Tuesday night as she matched her season-high with four assists in the first half. Husnay now has 64 career assists and is in second place on the college's all-time list. She is also in sole possession of second place on the college's all-time list for assists per game(1.28). Husnay has 16 goals and 18 assists for 34 points this season. She is currently sixth in the conference for assists per game(1.50). 

A First For Nowak: Senior midfielder Brittany Nowak (Eden, NY/Eden) netted her first two goals of the season on Tuesday night. Nowak's two goals came within just seven minutes of one another late in the second half. 

The Freshman Duo: Freshman attacker Alyssa Drell (Mastic, NY/William Floyd) and freshman midfielder Katie Crofoot (Montgomery, NY/Valley Central) came out with force as each pitched in a hat trick on Tuesday night. Crofoot scored her hat trick in the span of 14 minutes in the second half. She has six goals and one assist for seven points this season. Drell has 15 goals and four assists for 19 points going into the final game of the regular season.

Up Next: The Pioneers will host sixth-seeded Keuka on Tuesday as they begin Empire 8 tournament play with a first round game at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium.
