UTICA, NY- In its first ever home playoff game, the Utica College women's lacrosse team came away with a win as it downed visiting Keuka College 20-4 on Tuesday evening.
The Pioneers (9-5) will now travel to second-seeded Nazareth College on Friday for the E8 semifinals. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
Utica used 14 goals in the first half and tacked on six more scores in the second to secure the victory. The Pioneers, who are making their third straight Empire 8 Playoff appearance, have now scored at least 20 goals in each of their last three games. UC has won three in a row and seven of its last eight.
Junior
Lexi Scaccia (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) led the way with five goals and two assists on the day. Scaccia now has a conference-leading 42 goals on the year. Senior
Lauren Wolff (Peabody, MA/Peabody) was right behind Scaccia with six points, including a season-high four assists. Classmate
Stephanie Husnay (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) meanwhile chipped in with two goals and three assists of her own.
Sophomore
Samantha DeCondo (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) finished with four points (two goals, two assists), marking the fourth time in the last five games that she has tallied at least four points. Junior
Addison Green (Marcy, NY/Whitesboro) aided the offense as she matched her career-high with three goals on the evening.
Freshman
Alyssa Pisano (Hopewell Junction, NY/Arlington) found the back of the net twice and she also led the squad with eight draw controls and was tied for the team-lead with three ground balls. Classmates
Devin Ryan (Orchard Park, NY/Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart) and
Katie Crofoot (Montgomery, NY/Valley Central) each had one goal, as did juniors
Kristin Krieg (Schenectady, NY/Guilderland) and
Emily Rossi (Verona, NY/Vernon-Verona-Sherrill).
Junior
Claire Frier (Lafayette, NY/Lafayette) made four saves in 44 minutes of work, while
Savanna Thomas (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) and
Shaylynn Palmer (Kirkville, NY/East Syracuse Minoa) also saw time in net.
