CLINTON, NY - The Utica College volleyball team fell to the Hamilton College Continentals 3-1 on the road on Mnonday night.
The Continentals took the first set, 25-15, behind 15 kills to UC's nine while posting a .184 hitting percentage to the Pioneers' .125. The second set belonged to UC as they never trailed beyond 1-0. The Pioneers used two service aces and five service errors by Hamilton in its advantage to take control of and win the set, 25-21.
With the match even at one, Hamilton took control and claimed the nexxt two sets to win the match, 3-1.
Kurstan Martin (Owego, NY/Tioga) led the Pioneers with seven kills, followed by
Eleanor Cepiel (West Sand Lake, NY/Academy of Holy Names) with six and Briana Woods and
Caitlyn Curcurito (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) with four each.
Madison Maggiore (Orangeburg, NY/Tappan Zee) totaled 14 assists in the losing effort while
Hannah Johnson (Murfreesboro, TN/Blackman) finished with eight. Cepiel also led Utica on defense with 15 digs whie Martin and
Krystell Pappas (Owensboro, KY/Owensboro) recorded 10 each.
