UTICA, NY- The Utica College field hockey team wraps up its three-game home stand Wednesday as it hosts Oswego State for a non-conference contest under the lights at Gaetano Stadium. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT: The Pioneers are coming off an 8-0 thumping of Russell Sage College on Saturday… Five different players scored in the win, led by graduate student
Sabrina Whitehouse (Greenwich, NY/Greenwich), who had three goals…
Madeline Krecidlo (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) had two goals, and
Shannon Jedreicich (Deer Park, NY/Half Hollow Hills East),
Lexi Scaccia (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro), and
Sydney Scaccia (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) each tallied one goal… Utica was dominant on the day, recording 40 shots on goal, while not allowing a single shot against.
WHITEHOUSE 'WOW'ING: Graduate student
Sabrina Whitehouse (Greenwich, NY/Greenwich) is taking full advantage of her final season of eligibility… Whitehouse leads the conference with 10 goals and 22 points so far… 10 goals in a season is a new career-high for the forward and she needs just two more points to reach the highest scoring output of her career… She ranks eighth all-time in the College's record book with 83 career points… She is also seventh in career goals, needing two more to match All-American Alaina Stojkovski's mark of 33 goals.
COUNT ON KRECIDLO: Senior
Madeline Krecidlo (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) is also in the midst of her best season for the Pioneers as she has a career-high seven goals and 16 points so far this year… Krecidlo is second in the E8 in goals behind Whitehouse and she is tied for second in the conference in points.
HOW MAY I ASSIST YOU?: Graduate student
Jeslyn Files (Weedsport, NY/Weedsport) and freshman
Mackenzie Mix (Camden, NY/Camden) are tied for second in the E8 with five assists apiece… Mix has registered at least one point in each of her last six games, while Files has set a new career-best with seven points this season.
SCOUTING OSWEGO: The Lakers are 6-2 on the year (1-0 SUNYAC) and they are coming off a 4-0 win over Elmira on Saturday… All of Oswego's wins have been shutouts… Junior Kaitlyn Mastracco leads the team with 10 goals and 22 points, while three other players have tallied at least ten points on the year… Goalie Erica Scheblein has compiled a .87 goals against average and a .811 save percentage… Utica is 10- 1 all-time against Oswego, however this is the first meeting between the two teams since 2011.
LOOKING AHEAD: Utica will travel to Medaille College on Saturday for a non-conference matchup… Game time is scheduled for 11 a.m.
