UTICA, NY- The Utica College women's hockey team used four third period goals to down visiting Worcester State University 6-1 in non-conference action Monday afternoon.

Utica picks up its fifth straight win and improves to 11-2 on the year. This marks the best start through the first 13 games of a season in program history. The Pioneers return to UCHC conference play this weekend as they host Chatham University. Friday's game is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. while Saturday's faceoff is set for 1 p.m.

Utica wasted little time getting things going as graduate student
Rebecca Brown (Steamboat Springs, CO/Norwich University) put in a rebound for her fifth of the season.Â
Georgiana Santullo (Woburn, MA/Boston Shamrocks/Woburn High School) and
Carly Stefanini (Framingham, MA/Brooks School) picked up assists on the opener.Â

Utica added to its lead at 18:43 of the first as
Carolyn Whitney (Raleigh, NC/Milbrook School) scored a highlight reel goal for her seventh of this season. Whitney gathered a puck on the half wall and curled around toward the goal. She played a puck between the legs of a Worcester defender and then roofed a shot off the cross bar and in.Â
Maggie Rylott (Cobourg, Ontario/West Northumberland) and
Alexa Carlon (Lakewood, NY/Niagara Jr. Purple Eagles) had the assists on the powerplay tally.

The Lancers got on the board at 7:21 of the second when Emily Pavoni poked in a loose puck in front, off assists from Kiersten Erickson and
Ellen Cook (Becket, MA/CT Northern Lights).

Utica broke out with four goals in the final stanza starting with a powerplay tally by Santullo, assisted by Brown and
Madison Novotny (Wesley Chapel, FL/Northwood School) at 3:07. The Pioneers added to their lead at 7:27 when
Cortney Staniszewski (Buffalo, NY/Niagara Jr. Purple Eagles) put in a backhand for her second of the season.Â

Hannah Keating (North Andover, MA/HPNA) padded the lead with her s3eocnd goal of the year and
Molly Pedone (Trinity, FL/Robert Morris) capped off the day with her first career goal.Â
Abby Lillis (West Seneca, NY/Buffalo Bisons) finished with two assists, while
Holly Silva (Boston, MA/Worcester Academy),
Nicole Flak (Middleton, MA/Boston Shamrocks), and
Hailey Modlin (Phoenix, AZ/Boston Shamrocks) each had one helper.

The Pioneers were 3-for-5 on the powerplay while Worcester State as scoreless on two chances. Senior
Savannah Gutierrez (Huntington Beach, CA/Anaheim Lady Ducks) stopped 25 saves in the win, while Amber Lee turned aside 39 shots for the Lancers.
