#25 Fisher Hands Women's Basketball First Loss

ROCHESTER, NY- Nationally ranked No. 25 St. John Fisher College handed the Utica College women's basketball team its first loss on the season as the Cardinals came away with a 84-51 victory in Empire 8 Conference action Friday evening. 
 
With the loss, Utica drops to 12-1 on the year (3-1 Empire 8).  The Pioneers had their winning streak snapped at 12 games, tying their longest winning streak in program history.  Utica also had the best start to a season through 12 games ever.  St. John fisher meanwhile improves to 11-1 overall and 3-1 in E8 play. UC will look to rebound Saturday as it faces Nazareth College.  Game time is 2 p.m.  Fisher meanwhile will host Elmira College on Saturday also at 2 p.m.
 
Fisher used a 21-6 run in the final five minutes of the first quarter to take control of the game.  The Cardinals went on to outscore the Pioneers in each of the next three quarters to pick up the win.
 
Senior Petrina DeMarco (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) led UC with 12 points on 3-of-6 shooting from behind the arc and also sinking 3-of-4 free throws.  Cora Sawyer (New London, CT/New London) and Kelsey Carter (Shamong, NJ/Seneca) each netted six points, with Sawyer collecting a team-high seven rebounds. 
 
Brigid Johndrow (Bristol, CT/St. Paul Catholic), Julia Rotando (Cold Spring, NY/Haldane), and Hannah Stack (Dogleville, NY/Dolgeville) chipped in with five points apiece while Julianna Beaulieu (Chicopee,MA/Chicopee Comprehensive) had four points and tied for the team-lead with three assists.  Logan Taylor (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta), Kristine Miller (Red Hook, NY/Red Hook), Krissy Geraci (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia), and Sydney Przygoda (Freehold, NJ/Freehold) also scored for the Pioneers.
