RYE, NY- The Utica College women's hockey team suffered its first conference loss of the season Friday as it fell to host Manhattanville College 3-1 in United Collegiate Hockey Conference play.
Utica had its winning streak snapped at seven games. The Pioneers drop to 13-3 on the year and 10-1 in the UCHC, while Manhattanville improves to 10-4-1 (10-1 UCHC). The teams wrap up the season series Saturday at 3 p.m.

After nearly 40 minutes of scoreless action, senior
Georgiana Santullo (Woburn, MA/Boston Shamrocks/Woburn High School) opened the scoring for Utica at 17:04 of the second as she netted her team-leading 18
th goal of the year.Â
Carly Stefanini (Framingham, MA/Brooks School) and
Rebecca Brown (Steamboat Springs, CO/Norwich University) assisted on the powerplay tally. Brown has now tallied at least one point in each of her last four games.

The lead was short-lived however as the Valiants struck back just 20 seconds later as Gabrielle Cox netted her first of two goals on the night to even the score. Cox gave Manhattanville the lead just 1:06 into the final frame and a powerplay goal by Kerry Carr at 7:23 sealed the win.

Angela Hawthorne (Santa Clara, CA/Meijer) finished with 14 saves in the night, while her counterpart, Franny Girardi made 41 saves in the win.Â
