UTICA, NY- The Utica College women's hockey team exploded for six goals in the second period and went on to win 10-0 against Neumann University in United Collegiate Hockey Conference action Friday afternoon. Seven different players found the back of the net in the win.

Rebecca Brown (Steamboat Springs, CO/Norwich University) netted her second straight hat trick and sophomore
Madison Novotny (Wesley Chapel, FL/Northwood School) had a four-point outing to lead the offensive onslaught. Sophomore
Cortney Staniszewski (Buffalo, NY/Niagara Jr. Purple Eagles) had two goals and an assist and
Maggie Rylott (Cobourg, Ontario/West Northumberland),
Holly Silva (Boston, MA/Worcester Academy), and
Abby Lillis (West Seneca, NY/Buffalo Bisons) each had a goal and an assist. Sophomore
Hailey Modlin (Phoenix, AZ/Boston Shamrocks) also scored for UC.
Utica outshot the visitors 58-21 on the day and the Pioneers were 2-for-4 on the powerplay while holding Neumann scoreless on six powerplay chances. Sophomore
Angela Hawthorne (Santa Clara, CA/Meijer) stopped all 21 shots she faced to pick up her team-leading fifth shutout of the year. Her counterpart, Emma Swansburg, made 48 saves in the loss.
The Pioneers improve to 15-3 on the year (12-1 UCHC). The teams will wrap up the season series Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
