Utica Puts it All Together in Shutout Win Over MCLA

UTICA, NY - The Utica University women's soccer team put on a complete all-around performance in its 4-0 shutout win over the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts Trailblazers on Wednesday afternoon. 
 
Utica pushed the pace early and often with four shots through the first eight minutes. The team finally broke through on its fifth attempt in the early seconds of the ninth minute as Julianna Beaulieu (Chicopee,MA/Chicopee Comprehensive) netted her third goal of the season off of an assist by Jacinta Kaminski (Holland Patent, NY/Holland Patent). Later in the 24th minute, Kaminski scored her first goal of the season on an assist from Ro Hernandez (Carmel, NY/Kennedy Catholic) for a 2-0 lead. Hernandez went on to assist Kaela Mochak (Westfield, MA/Westfield) on what was her first goal of the season off of a corner kick in the 38th minute. 
 
The Pioneers attempted 18 shots through the first half, 11 of which on goal, while the Utica defense held MCLA to no attempts. 
 
Hernandez capped her two-assist first half with her sixth goal of the season in the 46th minute. Gabriela Daumont (Latham, NY/Shaker) recorded the assist on the goal. Utica went on to attempt 20 shots over the second half while the Trailblazers did not attempt its first shot of the night until the 90th minute as the Pioneers cruised away with a 4-0 win. 
 
In all, 13 different players attempted at least one of the Pioneers' 38 shots as well as all 13 putting at least a shot on goal. The team also finished with an 11-0 corner kick advantage. 
 
Utica (3-6-1, 1-1 Empire 8) will begin the back half of its regular season on Saturday when the team hosts Nazareth College at 3 p.m. from Pioneer Field.
