DANBURY, CT –
Lauren Jones (West Winfield, NY/Mount Markham ) of the Utica University women's volleyball team has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference North Rookie Player of the Month for September, as announced by the ECAC on Thursday.
The standout freshman had an incredible month of September with totals of 16 kills, 37 serving aces, nine blocks, and an average of 6.4 digs a game with a total of 102 digs across the month of September.
Jones started off her career with a great match against Bard where she totaled six kills, one serving ace, 12 digs, three blocks, and a .150 hitting percentage. Her strong freshman campaign was highlighted again against Wells where she had two kills, four serving aces, and 10 digs with an incredible hit percentage of .667. Jones had two other matches with 10-plus digs in September of her strong freshman year with 13 against SUNY Canton and 10 against Medaille.
The ECAC (Eastern College Athletic Conference) is an eighty-four-year-old organization with well over 200 member schools across all three NCAA Divisions - I, II and III. The ECAC exists to enhance the experience of student-athletes participating in intercollegiate athletics and provides great value for universities and colleges by sponsoring championships, leagues, bowl games, tournaments and other competitions throughout the Northeast.
