ROCHESTER, NY – Junior Midfielder Cody Baker-Green (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley), junior forward Byamungu Mugushu (Syracuse, NY/Bishop Grimes), and sophomore midfielder Kamer Lenio (Brighton, NY/Brighton) of the Utica University men's soccer received Empire 8 All-Tournament honors as announced by the conference on Wednesday. 

Baker-Green was a difference maker for the Pioneers throughout the tournament with his supreme ability to advance the ball up field and create opportunities to score. Most notably, he was a catalyst in the Pioneers thrilling win over St. John Fisher as he capitalized off a Cardinals turnover by dribbling through defenders and delivering a dime of a pass to Mugushu who tied the game at 1 with 27 minutes to play in regulation. The junior also was the first to line up for Utica in penalty kicks as he set the tone for the Pioneers after netting his opportunity which gave the Pioneers an early 1-0 advantage over Fisher.  

Byamungu Mugushu (Syracuse, NY/Bishop Grimes) was a nightmare for opposing defenses in the tournament as he netted a goal in each contest as well the deciding penalty kick over St. John Fisher, giving them a 4-2 advantage and sending Utica to its first conference championship since 2013. Mugushu scored the lone goal in the first-round win against Nazareth and converted from up close to tie the game up against Fisher. In the Empire 8 Championship against Medaille, Mugushu once again tied the game as he netted an unassisted goal in the 60th minute.  

Kamer Lenio (Brighton, NY/Brighton) stepped up at the right time for the Pioneers in the E8 tournament, scoring his first goal of the season in the conference championship against Medaille. The sophomore provided a response to Medaille's goal in the first half by netting a goal of his own to tie the matchup at 1 at the 20-minute mark of the first half. Lenio totaled five shots on goal during his strong performances in the E8 tournament. 

The Pioneers would defeat Nazareth at home 1-0 in their first-round matchup before defeating St. John Fisher 4-2 in penalty kicks in a thrilling semifinals matchup. Utica would eventually fall to Medaille in the conference championship by a score of 3-2 in double overtime. Overall Utica finished the season with a record of 8-9-2 along with a 4-4-1 record in conference play.
