Santullo Breaks Goal Scoring Record as Pioneers Cruise Past Wilkes

UTICA, NY- There was plenty to celebrate as the Utica College women's hockey team came away with a lopsided 12-1 victory over Wilkes University Friday afternoon.

With the win, Utica improved to 19-3 on the year (16-1 UCHC). 19 wins in a season ties the program record, set by the 2015-2016 installment of the Pioneers.  UC will go for history on Saturday as it wraps up the season series against the Colonels. The contest will also be Utica's 8th annual gold ribbon game for childhood cancer awareness. Game time is 2:30 p.m.

Senior Georgiana Santullo (Woburn, MA/Boston Shamrocks/Woburn High School) made history of her own as she netted two goals to set a new single-season goal-scoring record with her 26th goal of the season.  The previous record of 25 was set by former All-American Deana Wiegand and has stood for 18 years.  Santullo now has 47 points on the year.

Junior Erica Sloan (Potsdam, NY/St. Lawrence Steel) joined Santullo with a five-point evening of her own as she netted three goals and added two assists.  Classmate Carolyn Whitney (Raleigh, NC/Milbrook School) meanwhile recorded her first career hat trick and she also had a helper.

Sophomores Carly Stefanini (Framingham, MA/Brooks School) and Alexa Carlon (Lakewood, NY/Niagara Jr. Purple Eagles) each had a goal and two assists, while Maggie Rylott (Cobourg, Ontario/West Northumberland), Caley Susitti (Hartland, WI/Milwaukee Jr. Admirals), and Sirena Fitzery (Hamburg, NY/Buffalo Bisons) dished out two assists apiece.  Defenders Madison Novotny (Wesley Chapel, FL/Northwood School) and Holly Silva (Boston, MA/Worcester Academy) also got in on the action as they each had a goal and an assist.

Sophomores Angela Hawthorne (Santa Clara, CA/Meijer) and Maddie Esposito (Ashburn, VA/Boston Shamrocks) combined for 10 saves in net, with Esposito also getting credit for an assist.
