UTICA, NY- The Utica University women's lacrosse team will look to extend its three-game winning streak at home this Wednesday as the Pioneers take on the Morrisville State Mustangs. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium.

Last Time Out: In the second game over spring break for Utica, the Pioneers used momentum from a 10-goal first quarter to down Manhattanville College on the road 18-7. Senior
Lexi Scaccia (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) had a game-high five goals for Utica, pushing her to total to 11 on the season. Junior
Samantha DeCondo (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) finished with four points on three goals and one assist, graduate student
Ashley Guerra (Ionia, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima ) had three goals,
Tracy Moreno (Cedar Grove, NJ/Cedar Grove) and
Katie Crofoot (Montgomery, NY/Valley Central) had two goals apiece,
Alyssa Drell (Mastic, NY/William Floyd) and
Daniela Muscari (Millbrook, NY/Millbrook) each had one goal and freshman
Morgan Madore (Higganum, CT/Haddam-Killingworth) netted her first collegiate goal.
Claire Frier (Lafayette, NY/Lafayette) and
Shaylynn Palmer (Kirkville, NY/East Syracuse Minoa) combined for five saves in the win.

White Hot: In her first three games this season,
Lexi Scaccia (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) has 11 goals, five ground balls and 13 draw controls. With her five-goal effort last Saturday, Scaccia has now pushed her point streak, which dates back to March 2019, to 36 straight games, while also scoring at least one goal in 21 of her last 22 games played. Scaccia had eight points in her last game against Morrisville State (five goals, three assists).

Early Production: Emily Rossi (Verona, NY/Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) is another Pioneer who has been hot out of the gate. Rossi is currently the team leader with 12 points as well as with six assists. In just three games she has already surpassed the amount of points she had in her previous 16 games combined. The senior is also just two points away from tying her previous career high for points in a season (14), which came in her freshman season where she tallied nine goals and five assists.Â

Contributing Factors: There have been 13 different Pioneers who have contributed at least one point to the team's 61 total through three games.
Samantha DeCondo (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) is currently third on Utica with eight points (six goals, two assists), Butler University transfer
Ashley Guerra (Ionia, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima ) (six goals) and sophomore
Katie Crofoot (Montgomery, NY/Valley Central) (five goals, one assist) round out the top five with six points apiece. Despite not having any points, graduate student/captain
Sydney Scaccia (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) and sophomore
Aana Blaszka (Hampstead, NH/Pinkerton Academy) have made an impact defensively. Scaccia has totaled six ground balls and has caused five turnovers, while Blaszka has six ground balls and has caused four turnovers.Â

Fire Frier: A large part of the Pioneers' success has been the goaltender's ability to limit the amount of scoring done by the opposition. Senior
Claire Frier (Lafayette, NY/Lafayette) is currently 3-0 on the season, totaling 28 saves and ranking third in the Empire 8 with a .538 save percentage. Sophomore
Shaylynn Palmer (Kirkville, NY/East Syracuse Minoa) has also made one appearance, totaling four saves in 30 minutes of play. As a duo, Frier and Palmer are second in the conference in saves per game (10.67), save percentage (.525) and have allowed the second fewest goals at 29.Â

Scouting Morrisville: The Mustangs travel to Utica with an overall record of 2-2 after suffering back-to-back losses against SUNY Potsdam (19-9) and SUNY Oswego (23-2). The team is led by senior Aria Treadway, who has 16 goals and one assist, and sophomore Maddie Baum, who has nine goals and seven assists in four games played. Utica is 6-0 all-time against Morrisville State, with the last matchup coming on March 11, 2020, when the Pioneers defeated the Mustangs 20-8. Utica has outscored Morrisville State 97-44 in the team's previous six matchups.
Looking Ahead: Utica will be back at home on Saturday, Mar. 26, as the team hosts Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
