UTICA, NY - The Utica University men's tennis team will look to bounce back from Saturday's loss at Houghton with matches against Oswego State and Nazareth College. Utica will host Oswego St. at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday before traveling to Nazareth on Saturday for a 1 p.m. match.
Last Time Out: The Pioneers fell 8-1 on the road to Houghton College on April 9.
LJ Nuzzo (Peru, NY/Peru Central) earned the team's only win by taking second singles 7-6 (7-4), 6-3.
The Streak Continues: After his singles win at Houghton,
LJ Nuzzo (Peru, NY/Peru Central) now owns a 5-0 mark in singles action this season. His last three singles wins have come in two sets while his first two were decided in three.
All-Around Production: Four members of the Pioneers have multiple singles wins this season. Led by Nuzzo's five,
Damian Bruce (Gloversville, NY/Gloversville) owns a 4-1 mark while
Austin McGrain (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Mendon ) has three wins followed by
Bradley Litz (West Winfield, NY/Mt. Markham ) with two. With that, each doubles pair has multiple wins with Bruze/Nuzzo leading the team with four.
About Oswego: The Lakers will come to Utica 2-2 overall after dropping its last two matches to Houghton, 4-5, and St. John Fisher, 1-8, while not having played a match since losing to Fisher on Mar. 26.
A Look at Naz: The Golden Flyers are currently 6-3 overall and 2-1 in Empire 8 play. The team is 34-21 in singles and is led by Ryan Lalik and Dominic Vito who each have six wins. In doubles, Lalik and Vito are 5-4 as a pair while teammates Nathan Allen and Will Britton are 5-3 as a duo.
