Women's Lax Stretches Winning Streak to Six After Downing SUNY Poly

MARCY, NY- The Utica University women's lacrosse team cruised to its sixth straight win as it downed host SUNY Poly 20-2 in non-conference action Wednesday afternoon.
 
The Pioneers scored four goals in the first 4:30 of play and went on to take an 11-1 lead after the first quarter.  Utica stretched its lead to 13-2 at halftime and shutout the Wildcats in the second half on its way to the lopsided victory.
 
Utica used 12 different goal scorers in the win.  Graduate student Ashley Guerra (Ionia, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima ) led the way with four goals, while sophomore Alyssa Drell (Mastic, NY/William Floyd) had three goals. Samantha DeCondo (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) and Tracy Moreno (Cedar Grove, NJ/Cedar Grove) finished with two goals and one assist apiece and senior Lexi Scaccia (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) had two goals to her credit.
 
Senior Emily Rossi (Verona, NY/Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) extended her scoring streak to 13 games as she scored one goal and dished out two assists.  Addison Green (Marcy, NY/Whitesboro), Devin Ryan (Orchard Park, NY/Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart). Morgan Madore (Higganum, CT/Haddam-Killingworth), Grace Stuhlman (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro ), Katie Crofoot (Montgomery, NY/Valley Central), and Abigail Gerling (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) each had one assist for the Pioneers.
 
Sophomore Shaylynn Palmer (Kirkville, NY/East Syracuse Minoa) totaled a career-high 10 saves in 45 minutes of work, while Alycia Lugo made seven saves for SUNY Poly.
 
With the win, Utica improves to 11-2 on the year.  The Pioneers will wrap up Empire 8 Conference play Saturday as they travel to Nazareth College.  Game time is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
