Men's Lax Falls at Naz in Season Finale

ROCHESTER, NY- The Utica University men's lacrosse team dropped its final game of the season as it fell to host Nazareth College 30-11 in Empire 8 Conference action Saturday.
 
Nazareth was firing on all cylinders from the get go as it jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the first quarter and led 18-1 at halftime.  Utica was able to rally back to net 10 goals in the second half, but the Golden Flyers kept up the pressure to come away with their fifth conference win of the season. 
 
Senior James Daniele (Pleasantville, NY/Pleasantville) led the way for the Pioneers as he finished with a team-high four points on one goal and three assists.  Classmate John Avery (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford-Mendon) had two goals and one assist to his credit, while sophomore Chase Kaufman (Atlanta, GA/Riverside Military Academy) finished with two goals of his own. 
 
Sam Serrano (Stone Ridge, NY/Roundout Valley), John Spoto (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Mendon), Ryan Washo (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee), Caiden Frey (Accord, NY/Roundout Valley), Connor Costanza (Deer Park, NY/Deer Park ), and Gage Fiacco (Massena, NY/Massena) also scored for Utica.  Sophomore Jon Goodspeed (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Forks) was credited with the loss.  Goodspeed, Patrick Oswald (Deer Park, NY/Deer Park ), and Owen Mix (Henrietta, NY/Rush Henrietta) combined for 15 saves for the Pioneers. 
 
Utica wraps up its season with a 6-9 overall record an d a 2-4 mark in the E8.  The Pioneers will bid farewell to eight seniors including Daniele, Washo, Avery, Fiacco, Kevin Parisi (Glenwood, NJ/Vernon Township), Josh Bennett (Watervliet, NY/Shaker), Vincent Delia (Farmingdale, NY/Farmingdale), and Jack O'Shaughnessy (Knoxville, TN/Utica Notre Dame).
